Know Before You Go
Where are you at in the mural theme selection process?
“We are in the final steps of a revised group of 26 mural themes,” said Philip Mascher, committee member of the Northwest Muralfest.
“We have not publicized any of these yet, as we are aiming to expose the complete set to the public online shortly. Our next meeting is this Wednesday, at which time we hope to make a final decision on the group of themes to share for public input.”
Has the committee connected with diverse voices and organizations in the community for mural theme selection?
“Yes, we have had good success connecting and working with people in the African American, Latino and Native American community,” said Mascher.
Will there be another mural voting event soon?
“Yes, we are working on a section of our website that presents the 26 mural themes and asks the community for their favorites and input,” said Mascher.
“This will help us determine the final 15 mural themes that will be given to the lead muralists to design murals from. We don't have a date set yet but are hoping that we will be able to do this within a week or two. We want to make sure the themes are done right before presenting them.”
Have there been any significant changes or tweaks made to the mural theme selections?
“Yes, some themes have been eliminated, some have been revised, and some have been added,” said Mascher “Specifics will be clear when we're ready to show the new group of themes.”
