The Dalles boys basketball team lost their season opener in a heartbreaking fashion on Tuesday, Dec 7th.

The Hawks played the Parkrose Broncos in Parkrose, and it was a tight game going down the stretch.

The Hawks were ahead until the last seconds of the game when Parkrose inbounded the ball and drove it down the court and passed it to the wide-open man for a quick layup and won the game.

The final score was 65-64.

“Super proud of our effort and energy,” said Greg Cummings head coach for TDHS in an Instagram post. “We brought it tonight. Tough way to lose but lots of positives to build on. Back in the lab tomorrow to refine our skills and get better.”

Parkrose goes up for the winning layup on Tuesday, Dec. 7.

The Hawks hope to redeem themselves in their first home game of the season on Friday, Dec 10th at 7 p.m. They will match up against the La Salle Prep Falcons in a non-league game.

TDHS Boys are preparing to play La Salle Prep on Friday, Dec. 10, at home.
