Oregon Arts Commission tips more than $2k into local nonprofit

From the Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association:

The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association (CGOA) is proud to announce they have received a small operating grant of $2,261 from the Oregon Arts Commission.

These small grants often make a significant difference in ensuring arts access for Oregonians, especially in rural areas.

“This grant program was developed to increase the Arts Commission’s support of Oregon’s small but mighty arts providers,” said Arts Commission Chair Jenny Green. “These organizations frequently represent the only arts presenter for remote and underserved regions of the state.”

Jazz Collective Big Band

For example, CGOA is set to hold the Jazz Collective Big Band on Sept. 23 - yeah, this Friday, at the Hood River Elks.

The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association is starting its 2022-23 Season with the “hard-swinging, be-bopping, syncopated sounds” of the Jazz Collective Big Band on Friday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. at the Hood River Elks Lodge. Directed by Michael Paul, the Collective promises to make you feel like dancing and hopes you’ll take advantage of the big dance floor. Tickets $10 for adults, and free for kids under 18.  Click here for tickets.

Statewide, the Oregon Arts Commission awarded 106 grants to arts organizations for the 2023 fiscal year. All grants were for the same amount of $2,261.

Small Operating Grants are designed to provide support to arts organizations with budgets under $150,000.

Eligibility is limited to organizations that have operated as an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit for a minimum of two years and provide ongoing, sustained artistic programming and outreach programs.
