Dave Lutgens, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul Day Center was in the kitchen cooking up some chicken for tomorrows meal this afternoon, March 29th, 2023.
When asked what was he was up to Dave said, “We just keep doing what we’re doing. We’re feeding people and clothing them. And doing what we’re told to do you know?”
Dave says that St. Vincent de Pauls Day Center will have a permanent fence up around the property come the middle of April.
He also said he was glad to hear that the The Columbia Gorge Resolution Center has now been fully funded thanks to a grant from the OHA.
“That’s pretty good, that’s positive. I’m amazed we were able to get it,” said Dave.
“I’ve always maintained that we got more mental health problems here then drug problems,” says Dave.
He compares it to a chicken and egg situation.
“I’ve always felt that the chicken is mental health problems and the egg is the drugs,” says Dave.
