TD Police Apprehend Gunman Firing Shots in Downtown The Dalles

In an incident that took place earlier today, Renalodo Cruz, age 20 was taken into police custody after firing multiple shots into the air in the downtown area of The Dalles, Oregon.

According to reports, The Dalles City Police received a call at 1:26 p.m. reporting a man firing a gun into the air near 9th and Jordan St. Afterward, the man proceeded to fire additional shots in the vicinity of the Northern Wasco County Aquatic Center, located in downtown The Dalles.

The situation quickly escalated, with several police units rushing to the scene at Community Meals, where the man had been spotted. Upon arrival, the man attempted to discard the gun by throwing it away from himself. Officers were able to apprehend the man before he could leave the scene.

The incident has understandably caused concern among residents of The Dalles. The motive behind the man's actions is still unclear, and authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.

Cruz is currently in police custody, and is undergoing psychiatric evaluation. He has been cited for reckless endangerment, and unlawful use of a fire arm.
