Photo of the Day: The Battle for Middle Earth- Piñata style
by Cole Goodwin
In an epic battle for the fate of Middle Earth, youth at The Dalles Wasco County Public Library recently gathered to face off against a formidable foe - a piñata Ring Wraith filled with ring-pops.
The battle was just one of many Tolkien themed events that will take place at the Library throughout March and April, and the celebrations saw dozens of children put on their battle faces and grab their swords (or rather, sticks shaped like swords) to take on the dark forces of Sauron. With the help of library staff, they got to experience an epic showdown with the fearsome piñata.
As the children swung their sticks with all their might, the piñata put up a valiant fight, but eventually, its candy-filled core was breached, and the ring-pops spilled out in a glorious victory for the young heroes.
Library staff were thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm of the young participants.
“It was great!,” said library staff. “The kids had so much fun.”
Overall, it was a great day for Middle Earth and for the young heroes who fought to defend it. Who knows what other adventures await them at The Dalles Wasco County Library?
