Picture of the Day: Sun, Bikes, and ...Flutes?

The Dalles, OR. Sept. 6, 2023- It’s a bright and beautiful day; the sun is shining, and the birds are singing. However, the birds aren’t the only ones making noise today, Gene, and his wife, Delores Ewing were out at the Riverfront Park riding on their recumbent bikes and getting some exercise. The couple was spotted when Gene started playing the ocarina that he keeps around his neck. After playing a few notes, Delores quickly asked Gene to pull out one of his hand-made flutes.

Gene then came back with two Native American Style Flutes that he had made by hand.

“I’ve just gotten into making these for a few years now, I even taught myself how to play one of these,” she said. After showing off the quality of the craftsmanship, Gene began to play, and the sweet music that came from his flute was breathtaking.

After Gene showed off his musical skills, he and Delores both hopped on their bikes and rode off into the park, with the occasional note still coming from his ocarina with his wife beside him.
