The first days of spring are starting to show here in the Dalles and it was a perfect day to spend outside. It was a warm day at the skate park on Feb. 23, when Landon Haynes, 15, Dufur was spotted grinding and flipping on his skateboard. There were many other kids there, but Landon was the most excited to show off his tricks.
Amidst a biting cold snap in The Dalles, the temperature plummeted to a frigid 9 degrees Fahrenheit on January 16th. While most would shun the outdoors in such freezing conditions, Trever Phillips, 40, owner of Trever J Phillips Construction, and his dedicated team were undeterred, continuing their work despite the chill.
It was a rainy afternoon here in The Dalles on Monday, January 8th, 2023 when Zeb Stelzer, 15, who lives just outside of Dufur, was seen at the high school. Stelzer is an up-and-coming runner in the Dalles High School. While cross country isn't till the spring, and is taking this opportunity for winter practice to improve his time and distance.
Leo Ruis, Jose Ledesma, and Aurelio Marquez, above, were putting down their footprint at The Foley in The Dalles on Tuesday, Jan. 9 as strong winds and rain pelted the area. The three work at Schuepbach Builders of Hood River, which is now into building forms to pour a new walkway at the restored Plantation-Colonial Revival at 106 E. Fourth Street.
The Dalles Public Library hosted its gingerbread house-making event for children and families, witnessing a significant turnout. This year marks the second successful run of the event, with all preordered gingerbread houses being claimed before the event started.
