Police release video of suspect in downtown tire-slashing spree

The Dalles, Ore., March 17, 2026 — The Dalles Police Department is investigating a series of tire-slashing incidents reported in the downtown core, with more than 10 vehicles damaged over the weekend.

According to police, the incidents occurred around 1:51 a.m. on March 15 in the area of the 300 and 400 blocks of Second and Third streets. Officers say the cases appear to be related and are part of an active investigation.

Police have released video footage showing a man allegedly slashing the tire of a vehicle parked in front of the Commodore building, across from City Hall and near The Dalles Police Department. The location, in close proximity to key downtown buildings and law enforcement, underscores what authorities describe as a bold act.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual seen in the video.

Police said additional victims may not have yet reported damage. Anyone who believes their vehicle was affected is encouraged to contact the department at 541-296-2233 to file a report.

Investigators are also asking residents and business owners in the area to review security camera footage and report any suspicious activity. Even small details, police said, could help identify those responsible.
