Princesses and Princes Take Over The Dalles Public Library at Annual Tea Party
By Joshuah Albert
The Dalles, Ore., Jan. 2, 2026 — The Dalles Public Library was transformed into a storybook kingdom Friday afternoon during its third annual Prince and Princess Tea Party, drawing families for an afternoon of crafts, dancing and imaginative play.
The free event, held from 3 to 5 p.m. in the library’s meeting room, welcomed children of all ages, many of whom arrived dressed as princes, princesses and other fairy-tale characters. Costumes filled the room as participants took part in themed activities, including crafts and light refreshments.
Children were offered inflatable swords and golden chalices holding dragon eggs, adding to the royal atmosphere. Tables were set with sweets and drinks as the room buzzed with activity and excitement.
The program included a story time led by princess characters, which concluded with a group dance. Shortly afterward, an unexpected guest appeared when a dragon burst into the celebration, briefly “crashing” the tea party.
The dragon was quickly surrounded by costumed royalty, who engaged it from all sides with their inflatable swords, bringing the playful confrontation to an enthusiastic end.
The Prince and Princess Tea Party is held annually at the The Dalles Public Library and is open to the public at no cost.
