Spirits, Superheroes, and Sweets fill Downtown The Dalles on Halloween

The Dalles, Ore., Nov. 2, 2025 — Downtown The Dalles was packed with ghosts, superheroes, and witches Thursday afternoon as families filled downtown for the annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat event, a Halloween tradition hosted by The Dalles Main Street.

From police officers greeting kids at a “crime scene” booth to shop owners in full costume handing out candy, nearly every business downtown joined in the fun. Children paraded from storefront to storefront with pumpkin buckets in hand while parents and friends followed close behind, enjoying the mild, overcast weather.

The Dalles Police Department, The Dalles Lions Club, and The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce all lent a hand, helping keep intersections safe as the costumed crowd made its way through the heart of downtown.

Hundreds of residents took part in the celebration, which has become one of the most popular family events of the fall season — a time when The Dalles’ small businesses open their doors to celebrate community spirit, creativity, and of course, candy.
