The Dalles, Ore., Nov. 3, 2025 — The Dalles-Wasco County Library celebrates Native American Heritage Month with a full week of art, music, opera, and teen fun — from drum circles to trivia battles and pajama reading adventures.

Monday, Nov. 3 – Saturday, Nov. 8: Explore Native Voices Scavenger Hunt
Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with an interactive library scavenger hunt. Follow clues highlighting Native American authors and their stories. Participants can discover new books, learn about Indigenous history and win prizes.

Tuesday, Nov. 4 – Temporary Tattoo Parlor
5 to 5:45 p.m. — Kids, tweens and teens can stop by for fun temporary tattoos — from dragons to rainbows. Registration is required.

Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Virtual Author Talk with Joseph Lee
11 a.m. to noon — Award-winning journalist and author Joseph Lee discusses his memoir, Nothing More of This Land: Community, Power, and the Search for Indigenous Identity, in a live online event. Registration is required to join.

Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Adult Art Club: Wet Felted Acorns
1 to 2:30 p.m. — Artists of all levels are invited to share their work and learn new techniques in this twice-monthly art club. This session features wet-felted acorn crafts.

Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Trivia Battle! Teens vs. Adults
5:30 p.m. — The ultimate trivia showdown returns to the library’s meeting room. Teens take on adults in a friendly battle of the minds covering pop culture, movies and more. Registration is not required, but space is limited to 30 participants. Dinner provided.

Friday, Nov. 7 – Fun Fridays: Dogman
3 p.m. — School-aged kids can enjoy themed activities based on the popular Dogman book series.

Friday, Nov. 7 – Teen Fun Friday: Guess That Song
3:15 to 4:30 p.m. — Tweens and teens can test their music knowledge in a “Guess That Song” challenge. Prizes awarded.

Friday, Nov. 7 – Pages & PJs: After-Hours Fun for Teens
6:15 to 7:15 p.m. — Teens are invited to wear their coziest pajamas for a flashlight reading adventure through the library. Dinner provided, plus a cozy raffle. Registration required.

Saturday, Nov. 8 – Portland Opera To Go: The Elixir of Love
1:30 p.m. — The Portland Opera’s touring company presents The Elixir of Love, a family-friendly performance filled with colorful costumes, live singing and humor. Suitable for all ages.

Saturday, Nov. 8 – Drum Circle Featuring Red Elk Spirit Drum Group
5 to 6 p.m. — Celebrate Native American culture with a drum circle led by the Red Elk Spirit Drum Group. The first 50 attendees will receive free Indian tacos. Registration required.
