Fire burns through Cottonwood Canyon State Park, estimated at more than 5,000 acres

The Ferry Fire burning in and near Cottonwood Canyon State park has grown from a brushfire to more than 5,000 acres as heavy winds are pushing the blaze in the steep arid country filled with dry grass and sagebrush.
