The new TJ Maxx is providing The Dalles with a major retail clothing chain, drawing shoppers from across the Gorge and adding another regional destination to the local economy. Charles Rankin of The Dalles said TJ Maxx brings needed retail variety, reduces trips elsewhere and makes shopping easier locally.

The Dalles City Council will hear an update on the City’s buildable lands inventory at its regular meeting this evening, Monday, March 28, starting at 5:30 p.m. The buildable lands inventory is used in guiding decisions and requests affecting local employment and the economy.

Jerrod Donnell, the 31-year-old owner of Alpine Plumbing & Mechanical, has just contracted to purchase a highly visible building in The Dalles - 822 E. Second Street - just east of Dinty’s Market and a block west of the round-about. Donnell is buying it from David Wallace of Precision Automotive and is in the process of getting it ready. The two have been friends for years.
