The Fun Group has struck again with a partnership with The City of The Dalles, Crestline Construction and North Wasco County People’s Utility District. Call it a glowing holiday gumbo.

A bit of choreography played out in west The Dalles as the elite 8, a highly skilled sect of the Fun Group, used a series of levered poles to lower the Chinook Star to replace LED lights on the 40-foot symbol of Holiday joy.

Louis Red Cloud stepped into the sky on Saturday, Oct. 12, in quest of lighting up the Fun Group star in West the Dalles, atop the former Bert Hodges property.

Terry was larger than life and will be deeply missed by many. He was a people person who found fun and friends wherever he went. Although he is no longer here his kindness and gift of connecting with people will be remembered with a smile.

Why join a group unless it’s fun? That was Bert Hodges’ thought some 30 years ago. Little did he know that day he and six others would start a tradition that has championed the local holiday spirit for the past three decades.
