Hey now, see the new star; Get your holiday, go, play
By Tom Peterson
The Dalles, Ore., Nov. 4, 2024 — Hey, The Dalles, did you put out a missing report?
Because we just found a star in your midst and its beauty will be heating things up over the holiday season.
Like… Sriracha turkey and Santa salsa hot.
The Fun Group has struck again with a partnership with The City of The Dalles, Crestline Construction and North Wasco County People’s Utility District.
Call it a glowing holiday gumbo.
They have been working together to erect a 40-foot star near the water reservoir above Adventist Health Hospital in The Dalles for all to see.
They lit up for the first time on Sunday night, Nov. 3.
“I was so surprised to see it,” said Debbie LaFond who lives on Oakwood Drive near Thompson Track. “I didn’t know we were getting a star on the east side. And it’s almost in my yard! I am happy to have it in my neighborhood.”
Kurt Conger with the Fun Group said all went according to plan.
“We ran heat run tests (fully lit for a few hours) last night 5 to 9 p.m. and it worked flawlessly,” said the Fun Groups Kurt Conger. “Should be all set for the Starlight Parade.”
The parade is on Friday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m., which is the day after Thanksgiving.
The Fun Group lights up all of its stars around The Dalles to celebrate the holidays through New Year’s Day.
