Exalted Ruler Bill Seymour said Elks collected tips at hamburger bashes and they were grilling up all over the place including the Jr. Live Stock Show and Wasco County Fair. Members were also upping the ante at the poker table at weekly games and monthly tournaments with a portion of proceeds going to the stock pot.
TD Rifle & Pistol Club offers firearm handling and safety classes in April; register now
TD Rifle and Pistol Club founded in 1938 maintains a strong presence in The Dalles with a mission of improving firearm handling and safety through local classes. The nonprofit encourage organized rifle and pistol shooting among citizens of the Columbia Gorge area. Next classes begin in April.

Wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs sought for TD Medical Loan program
The Mid-Columbia Senior Center is looking for medical equipment donations for its Medical Loan Closet. We are desperately in need of shower chairs, wheelchairs, and 4-wheel walkers (the ones with a seat and brakes). The program is run on donations and props those up who have health and mobility problems. Use the items for a month or a year, whatever is needed. And donate your medical equipment back when it is no longer useful to you.
Ageless Awards: And The Winners Are...
2600 years ago, Chinese philosopher Confucius championed that respect, obedience, and care for one's parents and elderly family members are the root of humanity. Some local seniors are turning that principle on its ear reaching deep into their 70s and 80s to continue to care for others and put thousands of hours into community service. McKay to retire as director at Mid-Columbia Senior Center
“The last 15 years as executive director of the Mid-Columbia Senior Center has been an incredible journey,” said McKay. “When I look back at the good work the Center has accomplished because of the volunteers and community support, what I will remember most are the wonderful people I have met: sharing stories, laughing together, and particularly talking about the joys and challenges of growing older.

To be nominated for the Ageless Award, one needs to be:
75 years or older
Who have made and are still making substantial contributions to their communities
Who serve as models of both the ideal that all communities are intergenerational and that older adults are a significant part of the community fabric.

Vaccine with a side of Ice Cream on May 22
Mid-Columbia Senior Center, in partnership with Age+, is hosting a vaccine event on Saturday, May 22nd from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. that will feature music and ice cream.
