Today, Oct 20, Wasco County District Attorney Matthew Ellis announced that 41-year-old Aselmo Arzeta received a seventeen (17) year prison sentence after pleading guilty to one count of Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree, one count of Sodomy in the First Degree, and one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.

A non-partisan political action committee (PAC) concerned with crime called Save Wasco County has formed in The Dalles, OR. Two people, including the Mayor of The Dalles, said the PAC was to fund a campaign to bring a challenger against District Attorney Matthew Ellis in next year’s May primary election.

The Wasco County District Attorney's office will no longer seek “harmful” and “discriminatory” monetary sanctions such as court fees, and fines, and will work to minimize the collateral consequences of legal system involvement.
