Yakama Nation and Glenwood School Release Adult Pacific Lamprey Into the White Salmon for the First Time Ever

On Monday May, 9th, Yakama Nation Fisheries and Glenwood High School’s Zoology class released twenty tagged adult lamprey into the White Salmon River at the BZ Corner launch site for the first time ever. The tags will enable biologists to track the fish's movements up and down stream.

Yakama Nation encouraged by EPA and Army Corps commitments to clean up Bradford Island Superfund Site

Swift action and an inclusive cleanup process were the two main takeaways from a meeting between the Yakama Nation and officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Army Corps of Engineers about the Bradford Island Superfund Site. At yesterday’s meeting, EPA and the Army Corps committed to finalizing a federal facilities agreement within a year, expediting cleanup actions where possible, and fully engaging the Yakama Nation in all processes.

Yakama Nation, Environmental Groups Hold Salmon Vigil to Raise Awareness of Salmon Die-Offs, Call for Dam Removal

Yakama Nation leaders, Columbia Riverkeeper, and over 40 people gathered at the mouth of the scenic Little White Salmon River to hold a Salmon Vigil. The vigil was to raise awareness about the ongoing deaths of sockeye salmon caused by hot water temperatures in the Columbia River and its tributaries.
