Here are the Kiwanis Thursday noon programs for Januray.

KIWANIS PROGRAMS: The Dalles Kiwanis Club is holding virtual noon meetings on Thursdays. Log on between 11:45 and 1 p.m. at TheDallesKiwanisZoom.us Programs coming up:

— Jan. 6 Atty. Marcus Swift of Overland Law speaks on the effect of pandemic on tenant/landlord issues.

— Jan. 13 Wasco Co. Veterans Service Officer Patrick Wilbern talks about services and issues for veterans.

— Jan. 20 Gilliam Co. District Attorney Marion Weatherford presents his case as candidate for Judge Stauffer’s position.

— Jan. 27 is a social meeting.

Karl Vercouteren

Karl Vercouteren came to The Dalles in 1977 to become pastor of United Church of Christ Congregational. Early on he joined Cascade Singers and the Original Courthouse board, reflecting life-long interests in music and history. Since retirement in 2008 he has taken on several projects writing about local history.
