The Dalles Art Center has some really exciting things happening right now, here’s a quick run-down:

First and foremost, TDAC just published the All Together The Dalles fundraiser book, with detailed history of each of the locations on the mural on 2nd St. The beautiful linen covered hardback book with full page photographs and really fascinating details about our local landmarks is available at TDAC and Klindt's Books for $100.

Along with the book, the city of The Dalles and TDAC have also published a virtual walking tour of all the locations on a smartphone platform called Otocast. You can download the app on your phone, and get a tour of the landmarks with audio, video, imagery and text. We are also releasing an All Together The Dalles branded beer by Freebridge Brewing, and a ATTD branded coffee by Kainos.

“We are excited to have worked with so many community partners to create a project that connects so many stakeholders in the community with the culture and history of The Dalles expressed through art,” said Scott Stephenson, TDAC Executive Director.

The whole program is a beautiful celebration of our beautiful historic home town.

The new exhibit at the Art Center features ceramicist and musician Tony Furtado. As the winner of the juried exhibition at the Biennial Exhibition "Beyond The Construct", Furtado received a solo exhibition at TDAC. This body of work represents an exploration of the natural world in reaction to the human impact on the delicate balance of thriving vs. struggling species.

Tony Furtado is an acclaimed folk and roots musician who has recorded 20 albums under his own name as well as played with the likes of Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas, Tim O’Brien and Kelly Joe Phelps.

Tony played his music at the TDAC opening reception on Saturday, July 9th at 5.00 pm.

Tony Furtado’s lastest show is titled “The Whale in the Room: The Natural World vs Industry.” “This body of work represents an exploration of the natural world in reaction to the human impact on the delicate balance of thriving vs. struggling species,” reads the TDAC website. Photo Source: TDAC

The summer art camp courses at TDAC are running from July 19th to August 12th. Please let any families with children know, there are also a few full scholarships still available.
