The Dalles Witches Walk Draws a Bewitching Crowd

The Dalles Witches Walk Draws a Bewitching Crowd

The Dalles, Ore. Oct. 20, 2024 – The streets of downtown The Dalles were transformed into a scene straight out of a magical realm on Saturday, Oct. 19, as witches and warlocks gathered for the annual Witches Walk. The evening was filled with enchanted fun, casting a spell over locals and visitors alike.

The night began with a parade featuring witches and warlocks from across the Gorge, strutting their best broomsticks and pointed hats. Notably absent were any wizards—after all, as we all know, wizards are not witches, and none dared to make an appearance at this witch-only event.

Following the parade, participants gathered at Route 30 Burgers, Bottles & Brews to receive passports for the evening’s main event. The passport-wielding witches and warlocks then set off to visit local businesses, collecting stamps at each stop. Once completed, the passports were returned to Route 30 for entry into the raffle drawings, where the lucky few could win spellbinding prizes.

In total, approximately 150 minor passports were distributed, with 93 returned. Among adults, 500 passports were handed out, and 399 were returned. However, the number of attendees far exceeded those collecting stamps, as many simply enjoyed the evening’s festivities without participating in the passport event.

This year’s walk featured some exciting new additions, including a Witches Parade and a mesmerizing performance by fire dancers. The combination of magic, fire, and community spirit left attendees eagerly anticipating next year’s event.

Wizards may have stayed away, but with a night like this, the witches and warlocks of The Dalles proved they didn’t need them to create a magical evening. Here’s to a bigger and better Witches Walk next year!
