Three Volley Salute on Kelly Avenue
The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 10, 2024 — Three shots rang out this afternoon on Kelly Avenue in a military funeral for Carl Eugene Sager of Hermiston.
It was the first three volley salute to be held at the Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in several years.
Sager served for 23 years in the Army National Guard, retiring as a Staff Sargeant Tank Commander.
The ceremonial act included the playing of taps and was followed by the flag presentation to the family. The flag was folded into a symbolic tricorn shape and presented to Carl’s wife Sharon.
Sagon, 70, was a diesel mechanic and purchasing agent working at Threemile Canyon Farms in Boardman.
