The Dalles, Ore., Aug. 24, 2024 — From designing solar ovens and folding paper airplanes to creating original characters and exploring ceramics, this week’s library events invite families and individuals to learn, play, and discover together. With special guest programs and off-site movie nights, there’s something for every age to enjoy.

Solar Oven Construction
Monday, Aug. 25, 6–7 p.m., Children’s Wing
Kids and families can build their own small solar oven and learn simple recipes powered by the sun. Adults must accompany children.

Family Craft Night: Paper Airplane Contest
Tuesday, Aug. 26, 6–7 p.m., Main Library
Test your paper-folding skills in a family-friendly competition. Supplies provided. Part of the library’s monthly family craft night series.

Character Design with Eleanor Key
Wednesday, Aug. 27, 3–4 p.m., Meeting Room
Teens and adults can dive into character creation with Eleanor Key, exploring design choices that bring stories to life.

How to Thrive in a World of Constant Chaos with Dr. Tasha Eurich (Virtual)
Thursday, Aug. 28, 11 a.m.–noon, Online
Organizational psychologist and bestselling author Dr. Tasha Eurich shares insights from her new book, Shatterproof, on how to thrive in today’s chaotic world. Registration required.

Family Lego Pizza Night – Special Event
Thursday, Aug. 28, 5:30–7 p.m., Offsite at the Granada
Families can enjoy Legos, pizza, and a movie at the Granada Theater. A special giveaway will close the evening.

Fun Friday Movie Day: Shaun the Sheep
