The Dalles, Ore., Aug 10, 2025 — From gold panning to puppet making, and from dragon tattoos to movie magic, The Dalles Public Library is bringing summer to life with activities for every age. Whether you’re into crafts, games, music, or just trying something new, there’s something here to make your week unforgettable.

Temporary Tattoo Parlor
Monday, Aug. 11, 6–7 p.m., Children’s Wing
Choose from a variety of fun designs — from dragons to rainbows — and leave with some temporary flair. Designed for children and accompanying adults.

Make Your Own Puzzle – Take & Make
Tuesday, Aug. 12, All Day
Pick up a blank jigsaw puzzle and markers to create your own design. First-come, first-served while supplies last.

Didgeridoo Workshop for Teens
Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1–2:30 p.m., Teen Room
Learn to make and play this traditional Australian instrument in a hands-on session.

Music & Magic in the Park: Didgeridoo Down Under
Wednesday, Aug. 13, 6–7 p.m., Offsite
Experience the history, sound, and performance of the didgeridoo in a free, family-friendly outdoor event.

Wasco County Fair – Blue Jeans & Country Dreams
Thursday–Sunday, Aug. 14–17, All Day, Offsite
Stop by the library’s Word Wagon for crafts, goodies, and information during the Wasco County Fair & Rodeo. Thursday is Family Free Day.

Puppet Workshop
Thursday, Aug. 14, 6–6:45 p.m., Children’s Wing
Enjoy a short puppet show, then make your own puppet and help bring the story to life.

Beaded Lizard Keychains
Friday, Aug. 15, 1–2 p.m., Teen Room
Celebrate World Lizard Day by crafting a beaded lizard keychain.

Movie Night at the Granada – “Singin’ in the Rain”

A free screening of the classic musical. Concessions available for purchase.

Level Up at the Library: Learn Gold Panning
Saturday, Aug. 16, 1–2 p.m., Meeting Room
Discover tips, tricks, and techniques for finding gold in Oregon’s rivers. Registration required.

RPG – Role-Playing Games

Dive into immersive tabletop adventures for teens and adults.
