Tired of the fight? Employ philosophy and skills of resolving disputes with this training

From Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center:

Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center to Offer 40 Hour Basic Mediation Training in May 2025

Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center will offer its annual 40 hour Basic Mediation Training in May of 2025.

Why?

Because dispute resolution is a great alternative to court decisions. Creative solutions tailored to specific needs through open communication can bring disputing parties together and save time, money and pain while getting to an agreement that solves a root problem.

Dispute resolution processes can be used to resolve any type of dispute including family, neighborhood, employment, business, housing, personal injury, consumer, and environmental disputes, according to the American Bar Association.

The in-person training will take place from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Friday May 9, Saturday May 10, Friday May 16, Saturday May 17 and Thursday May 22 at Riverside Community Church, 317 State Street, Hood River, Ore.

This training provides students with the philosophy and skills needed to have a working knowledge of the role of an impartial mediator. The conflict resolution skills taught in this training are easily transferable and designed to improve communication and enhance relationships in all settings. Past graduates have used the conflict resolution skills gained in the training to serve the Gorge in a variety of ways- at work, at home, and in their communities.

Thanks to grants and donations, including from the United Way of the Columbia Gorge, Six Rivers is offering Gorge residents and workers the highly subsidized rate of $250/person for the training. Scholarships and discounts are available for those who qualify. Registration will close when the course is full.
