Wasco County Post-Election Stats
From the Wasco County Clerk's Office
The elections team wrapped up counting all available ballots before heading home at 11 pm last night, including the drop boxes in Simnasho, Maupin, Dufur, The Dalles and Mosier.
Ballots arriving for the next seven days with a valid postmark will be counted - results that include postmarked ballots will be updated by end-of-day Friday, May 24th.
Voters who forgot to sign their ballot, or whose signature was challenged, have until June 11th to contact our office and resolve the issue.
Turnout at the end of last night was 35.93%. A big shout out goes to The Dalles Rotary Club, who collected 1,315 ballots which was 77% of all ballots returned on election day!
How people returned their ballots:
Rotary and drop boxes - 55%
Mail - 41%
Dropped in the elections office - 3%
Dropbox stats per town:
The Dalles/Courthouse - (not including Rotary) 2,034 ballots
Mosier - 131 ballots
Maupin - 114 ballots
Dufur - 85 ballots
Simnasho - 8 ballots
What triggers an automatic recount?
We have several close races, but a contest has to be within 1/5th of 1% to trigger an automatic recount. This means the District Attorney race would have to be within 12 votes to trigger a recount.
Where can voters see the results?
A PDF copy of the results released on election day are available on the Wasco County website at https://www.co.wasco.or.us/departments/clerk/election_results.php. The next scheduled report including postmarked ballots will be available at end-of-day Friday.
