Retirement of Middle School bond drives taxes lower
Taxpayers within the Northern Wasco County School District 21 may have seen a decline in their property tax bills this year. Wasco County Tax Assessor Jill Amery points this out in the following document detailing the tax roll, and the retirement of the Middle-School bond.
In addition, those needing a receipt for their property taxes can include a self-addressed stamped envelope or an email address and we will be happy to send you a receipt, said Wasco County Tax Assessor Jill Amery.
From the Assessor:
Wasco County certified the 2020-21 tax roll of $41,932,645.69 on October 8, 2020.
The tax roll includes 30 districts and 3 special assessments; 1 County, 6 Cities, 3 Fire Districts, 9 other General Government Agencies, 6 School Districts, 3 Education Service Districts, and 2 Community Colleges
Tax statements began to be mailed out on October 16, 2020.

One of the changes this year is a noticeable decrease in the taxes imposed. This is due mainly to the retirement of District 12 School Bonds. The bond levied $1,863,862.03 for the prior 2019-20 year, a noticeable difference compared to the current year taxes levied minus the bond.
Taxes are due on Nov. 16
Tax payments are due November 16, 2020, this year due to the 15th falling on Sunday. Payment in full by November 16, 2020, receives a 3% discount. If mailing it must be POSTMARKED with the 11/16/2020 date (this postmark matters). Paying 2/3 by 11/16/2020 receives a 2% discount, 1/3 payment does not receive a discount. Installment payment options are due on 11/16/2020, 2/15/2021, and 5/17/2021.

We have installed a new payment drop box outside of the Courthouse on 5th Street to assist taxpayers during this time of COVID-19 to continue our efforts in protecting the health and safety of our employees and the public.

Mail to US Bank Processing Center in Portland. The payment coupon on the tax statement must be included because it has a unique bar code for your payment.
If you typically pay in cash, we ask that you consider exchanging cash for a money order and mail your payment.

E-Check payment online is a $2.00 flat fee
Credit card payments have a 2.50% fee charge of tax paid. The fee goes to the service provider, not Wasco County.
