Washington ranks 3rd in supernatural sightings
A new report uncovers the areas across America where residents are most likely to see the supernatural

A new report from Great Lakes Stakes analyzes UFO and ghost sightings in all 50 states has revealed that Washington is the 3rd most likely state in which supernatural sightings occur.
According to the report which analyzed data from the National UFO Reporting Center and Ghosts of America and compared it to population data to determine the odds of a supernatural sighting, Washington has had 6,720 UFO sightings, 1,291 ghost sightings, and 8,011 sightings of the supernatural.
Oregon meanwhile came in at the 13th most likely state to see a UFO or ghost with 3,305 UFO sightings, 1,060 ghost sightings, and 4,365 sightings of the supernatural.
While the data seemed to show more sightings being reported in densely populated areas, rural areas such as the Columbia River Gorge were still represented in the national data.
“The very first modern UFO sighting happened by Mt. Rainier on June 24th, 1947, so I’m not surprised at all by this report,” said James Szubski, owner of Margie’s Outdoor Store in Bingen Washington.
Margie’s Outdoor Store often takes paranormal reports from the community and from hikers who are visiting the area.
"Klickitat County is considered by some to be the Paranormal Capital of the Pacific Northwest. That's a title that's well earned,” said Szubski.
“We have received scores of paranormal reports at Margie's Outdoor Store this year alone. For decades, anyone with a view of Mt. Adams has seen the so-called UFO hangar door open and strange things fly out. Sasquatch sightings are ridiculously common, and a huge number of folks have encountered other very strange things, like the Klickitat Ape Cat, in the wild reaches of the county.”
Aliens, ghosts, and supernatural phenomena have been gaining public interest in the past year with google searches such as “proof that ghosts are real” having increased by 150% in the past twelve months. So, thrill seekers should pay attention to the following:
The most likely state to see a UFO
But if you really want to see a UFO, California is the UFO capital of the US with a whopping 15,072 UFO sightings.
The most likely state to see a ghost
But while the Aliens seem to like the Golden state best, ghosts seem to prefer Texas which has reported 7,382 ghost sightings.
The most likely state to see the supernatural
For overall spookiest state however, Maine takes the cake as the most likely place to spot the Supernatural.
