The Dalles, Ore., July 19, 2026 — The Dalles Public Library has a full week of family-friendly activities, crafts, games and performances scheduled July 19–25, along with opportunities for children and teens to get involved through hands-on learning and creative programs.

July 19–25: Tween Librarian Team Applications
Children ages 7 to 11 can apply to become a Tween Librarian, adopting and decorating a library shelf to showcase favorite books and movies. Selected participants will attend a special celebration Aug. 1 from 1–3 p.m. Registration is required and applications close July 25.

July 20–25: Pint-Sized Playdates
Families with preschool- and school-age children are invited to enjoy hands-on tabletop activities throughout the week. This week's theme is "Plant a Seed," featuring crafts and activities centered on gardening and nature.

Tuesday, July 21 | 11 a.m.–Noon: Quilling with Corina
Participants of all ages can learn the art of paper quilling, creating decorative designs from rolled paper strips. All materials are provided.

Tuesday, July 21 | 4–5:30 p.m.: Crazy Craft Club — Glowing Jellyfish
Children ages 8 to 12 are invited to create colorful glowing jellyfish during this hands-on craft session designed for young artists who enjoy making big, bold and messy projects.

Wednesday, July 22 | 1:30–2:30 p.m.: Matt Baker Comedy & Stunt Show
Guinness World Record holder Matt Baker brings a family-friendly performance combining comedy with impressive stunts. Baker has appeared on America's Got Talent, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Tosh.0 and Last Comic Standing.

Wednesday, July 22 | 3–5 p.m.: Minecraft Club
Teens ages 11 to 17 are invited to play Minecraft together using the library's iPads and server while completing challenges and enjoying light snacks. Registration is required because space is limited.

Thursday, July 23 | 1:30–2:30 p.m.: Library Scouts — Dissection Badge
Children ages 8 to 12 can participate in Library Scouts, an interactive program combining outdoor exploration, STEAM learning and community engagement. Registration is required.

Friday, July 24 | 3:30–4:30 p.m.: Detective Diggs — The Case of the Bone Bandit
Children and families are invited to help solve a mystery during this interactive theatrical performance where young detectives gather clues, question suspects and crack the case.

Saturday, July 25 | All Day: Rock Collection Take & Make Kit
Visitors can pick up a free rock sample and educational fact sheet to begin or expand a personal rock collection. Kits are available while supplies last.

Saturday, July 25 | 2–4 p.m.: Family Board Game Afternoon
Families are invited to spend the afternoon playing classic and modern board games, including Monopoly, Clue, Wingspan, Guess Who and more. Light snacks will be provided.
