by Cole Goodwin
Downtown White Salmon was filled with energy and excitement on May 13th, 2023, as local businesses, winemakers, and the White Salmon Arts Council joined forces to organize the White Salmon Wine Walk. The event was held in celebration of the White Salmon Wildflower Festival, and it attracted a bustling crowd from 3 to 8 p.m.
The Wine Walk, which marked its inaugural year, offered participants a unique opportunity to explore downtown White Salmon while indulging in exquisite local wines. Attendees purchased tickets and strolled through the vibrant streets, visiting each participating business, and sampling a wide variety of wines. The event was a resounding success, with tickets being completely sold out prior to the event.
In addition to the delightful wine tastings, participants enjoyed live music, dancing, and mingling. They also had the chance to browse and shop at the Wildflower Artisan Market , which showcased the talents of local artisans. The event truly encompassed the spirit of the White Salmon Wildflower Festival, providing a delightful evening of entertainment, culture, and community.
Furthermore, participants were treated to a range of specials and happenings throughout the event including live music by the Pure Fun Band from 4 to 8 p.m, The Wildflower Festival Speaker Series presented National Bestseller Author Eileen Garvin, and the grand openings of Marcel and Goodfellow’s Tonsorial Parlor.
Each Wine Walk guest received nine tasting tickets, a souvenir tasting glass, and a map of the participating businesses in downtown White Salmon. The wine tasting took place from 4 to 8 p.m., with check-in starting at 3:30 p.m. Guests had the opportunity to purchase the wines they sampled at the check-in location, and the first 100 guests who bought two or more bottles received a souvenir tote bag. It was an exclusive experience reserved for those with valid event wristbands and tickets, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable affair for all attendees.
The White Salmon Wine Walk was not only a celebration of local winemaking but also aimed to support a downtown beautification project focused on native plants and art. By participating in the event, attendees contributed to the enhancement and preservation of the White Salmon community's aesthetic appeal.
To make the most of their Wine Walk experience, participants were encouraged to book their lodging in advance. Mentioning the Wine Walk at Hotel Iconica granted guests a 10% discount on their stay. Additionally, attendees were advised to plan their weekend and explore the White Salmon Wildflower Festival Program, which featured a range of exciting events and activities.
The Wine Walk showcased an impressive lineup of wineries, including Aniche, Clyzm, Color Collector, Hawkins, Jacob Williams, Le Double Trouble, Loop de Loop, Poberaj Wines, and Ridge of Wonders.
