Woman injured after Explorer hits utility pole at 10th and Mount Hood Streets in TD
Police and Firefighters were called out to the corner of 10th and Mount Hood streets this morning, Sept. 5, at about 10:50 a.m. when a Ford Explorer appeared to have run a stop sign and then hit a utility pole.
The airbag in the vehicle deployed and the front end of the SUV was heavily damaged from the impact.
Fire personnel with Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue worked to immobilize the driver’s neck out of caution and checked the driver’s condition before and after an ambulance arrived.
The woman was eventually able to get out of the Explorer and stand up as medics assisted her onto a gurney before she was put into the ambulance.
The Dalles Police used their patrol cars to block the streets at Mount Hood and 11th Streets and on 10th and Jordan streets to allow first responders to do their work safely and without interruption.
Mid-Columbia Fire also responded with a fire engine.
Rivers Edge Towing was also summoned and quickly loaded the disabled Ford and took it away by 11:15 a.m.
