Your Gorge Guide to Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that seeks to “unleash the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.”
It is a day characterized by giving.
“GivingTuesday reimagines a world built upon shared humanity and generosity,” says GivingTuesday.org.
With that in mind here are some of the ways you can give locally this GivingTuesday.
Ways to Give
Give Time
Volunteer in person or virtually from your home.
You can find volunteer opportunities near you at VolunteerMatch.org.
Give Gratitude
Write thank you letters to your postal workers, couriers, your favorite baristas and waitresses, organizations, or loved ones and let them know how much you appreciate them.

Support cause based coalitions in your community with donations! Check out this list of organizations working to better our communties in the Gorge!
The list below is intended to spark ideas about places to give this GivingTuesday but is by no means a complete list of the many organizations that work everyday to improve the lives of people, animals and the environments in our community.
Coats for Kids
Keeping children warm in cold weather is a goal of local winter clothing drives throughout the region. Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) partners with the efforts of Coats for Kids and Skyline Health’s Winter Outerwear Drive to keep kids safe.
Drop boxes are available in Bingen at the Insitu Eagle Point Lobby and WAGAP’s main office.
In White Salmon, donors can drop items at Whitson Elementary School, Henkle Middle School, Columbia High School, Harvest Market, and in the lobby at Skyline Health.
In Hood River, donors can take winter items to the 4th Floor Lobby of Insitu’s Waucoma Building and to The Next Door.

Home At Last Humane Society serves a five county area as a place where unwanted, stray, and injured animals can have a soft place to land until their owners can pick them up or they find a forever home. Donate today to support their new kennel project, become a kennel sponsor, and more.

Rowena Wildlife Clinic
Rowena Wildlife Clinic provides free veterinary care to injured wild, stray, and domestic animals in the Columbia River Gorge. This small but vital organization is staffed by a dozen dedicated volunteers and three veterinarians.
