In a heartening display of community spirit, Wasco County staff and The Dalles Little League families joined together in an initiative aimed at enhancing the ballfields at Kramer Field. The Columbia Gorge Education Service District (CGESD) has received a CTE Revitalization Grant of $265,959 in funding through June 2025. The grant will be managed by the Columbia Gorge STEM Hub and will support and expand access to current manufacturing technologies at two local partner school districts, South Wasco County School District and Hood River County School District.

The Oregon Human Development Corporation (OHDC) and the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP) are hosting a long sleeve shirt drive to help farmworkers in need mitigate exposure to pesticide residues and reduce direct exposure to heat. 

Students from Hood River and The Dalles swept up at the Oregon State VEX Robotics State Championships and earned top honors at both middle school and high school competitions. Teams from The Dalles High School, Middle School, and WyEast walked away as Tournament Champions and Excellence Award Winners, and five teams will advance to the VEX Worlds Competition in Dallas, Texas, from April 24 through May 3. 

Mid-Columbia Community Action Council (MCCAC) has wrapped up construction of the Gloria Center, a multi-agency service and resource center. The construction project first broke ground last March.

The Board of Directors of the PUD is happy to announce its new Scholarship Program. This year, the Board will award three scholarships of $10,000 each. The awards will be paid directly to the educational institution in two annual $5,000 payments, upon confirmation of registration.
