The Hood River-White Salmon Interstate bridge, has scheduled several closures over the coming months due to essential maintenance activities.

As the sun sets on August, the communities of Hood River, White Salmon and neighboring regions need to gear up for an imminent change: the toll rate hike on the Hood River-White Salmon Bridge. Set to begin September 1st, this alteration has stirred conversations among regular bridge commuters, local businesses, and the Port of Hood River Board of Commissioners.

The Winslow Road Fire has been successfully halted, as reported by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) Central Oregon. The fast growing fire was propelled by winds up to 45 mph, and quickly grew to 950 acres of land. The terrain included a mix of timber, brush, and recently harvested wheatland.

Oregon State Police reports detail two semi-trucks crashing into the Columbia River near Biggs Junction within three and half hours of each other on Friday, Aug. 25, and Saturday, Aug. 26.

A fire was reported at Inside Out Fitness located at 15 3rd St in downtown Hood River, was reported this morning at 7:51a.m. Hood River Fire and Resuce, Mid Columbia Fire and Resuce Wy’East Fire, Mosier Fire and Cascade Locks Fire responded to the scene. “This all happened in seconds,” said Richard Dant, owner of Inside Out Fitness.

People return to The Dalles to reconnect with the community. As he put it, “I want to push the ball forward.” His priority is not pay, it’s people. 

Fifth-grade student Addie Underhill of Dufur School was selected as one of thirteen winners in a statewide annual Calendar Art Contest sponsored by Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC). Addie's artwork was selected among 1,722 entries submitted to the contest showcasing diverse agricultural and natural resource commodities.

It’s a great reminder for drivers to add a little caution tomorrow morning as some kids will be walking to school and additional bus and car traffic will be on the road and around school drop-off sites. School speed zones are set at 20 miles per hour to ensure students safely make it to their classrooms.

Supporters of a new high school in The Dalles are hoping the time is right for a simpler bond that focuses solely on building a new campus on the district-owned fields of the Wahtonka grounds at the ballot box on Nov. 7. There are just 72 days left until election day.
