The current occupant of The Port of The Dalles, Position 3 has been on the Port Commission since 1996.
I am very disappointed that he has personally recruited another candidate to take over his seat, which means that this will just simply continue along with the same way of thinking.
Our community deserves better than this! We need fresh blood, not career politicians who are out of touch with The Dalles, which has changed rapidly over the last 25 years.
It is time to have new voices and perspectives to keep up with that change – not a small, secretive, elite group of longtime insiders deciding who should serve in local government.
From conversations I’ve been hearing in the community, the time is NOW for new leadership, bold ideas, and an independent spirit in our local government.
That’s why I’m proudly supporting Marcus Swift for Port of The Dalles Commission, Position 3, in the May election. Marcus has the experience in economic development, land use issues, and strategic thinking we need at the Port.
Unlike his opponent, Marcus has refused cash contributions from political parties and won’t accept donations over $100 or outside of Wasco County.
Big money and national political ideologies have no place in local government. We need a truly independent and non-partisan leader in local government.
For me, Marcus Swift is that leader.
