Understand the math, vote yes TDHS
Letter to the Editor,
As a member of the Community Advisory Committee & now an officer of the Political Action Committee promoting the bond it is frustrating to hear people continue to say the bond is too expensive compared to other recently built schools.
The information that continues to be misused is the price per square foot cost. There are multiple resources including the D21 website, radio interviews and media that explain the breakdown and explain the difference between soft versus hard costs in construction. I find the Sept 24 CCC News article to be a clear & easy read to explain how the combined hard and soft costs for the bond is $772/sqft (blueprints, building permits, student desks) and the hard cost (the physical building) is $509/sqft. The comparison school, Caldera in Bend, was nearly exactly the same.
