Adams Creek Cohousing Moves Into Hood River Community

Adams Creek Cohousing Moves Into Hood River Community

From Adams Creek Cohousing:

By Kate Hand

Hood River, Ore. Sept. 9, 2024 — Adams Creek Cohousing (ACC) has officially become the first cohousing community in Hood River!! We welcome members of the media to come tour our beautiful site and interview members to help spread the word about this unique community. We will be hosting community tours every Saturday at 2 p.m. beginning on Sept. 14th, and can accommodate personal tours, too.

The development was initiated by a group of people who sought the benefits of living with collaborative neighbors. They engaged a professional team with experience in developing cohousing communities. The location offers exceptional views of Mt. Adams and the Columbia River.

Privacy: Our building features 25 single-level private one to three-bedroom homes. Each home includes the normal amenities of a private home, kitchen, living room, bedroom(s) and bathroom(s).

Connection: ACC is designed to promote and support social connection. It includes a Great Room for gatherings and meals, Guest Rooms, workshops, a large terrace, and other shared spaces, making it easy to gather, do projects together, and stay connected.

Owner-developed: The resident owners have been active participants in the design and development process and will continue to share the responsibility for the management of the community.

Sustainability: Adams Creek offers an environmentally sustainable living environment with its small energy-efficient homes and collaborative structure, making it easy for people to share resources.

Walkable, bicycle-oriented location: Residents can walk and bike to many nearby destinations. Generous bicycle storage will enable members to take advantage of the growing network of bicycle lanes in Hood River and beyond.

Cohousing communities continue to grow in popularity across the country as people seek ways to balance needs for both privacy and community. We have just two homes available, and are eager to welcome new neighbors.
