Ballot returns in high school decision eclipse 30 percent in Wasco County

The Dalles, Ore., Nov. 2, 2023 - The countdown to November 7 brings a pivotal decision as the community is at a crossroads, with locals casting their votes on a 30-year, $140 million bond to fund the construction of a new high school.

The enthusiasm and engagement of the locals are clear, resulting in a brisk pace of election returns. By the end of Wednesday, November 1, the Wasco County Election Clerk had received an impressive 4,491 ballots from among the 14,621 eligible voters, reflecting a robust 30.72% participation rate.

This turnout was noteworthy when compared to the 2022 General Election at the same juncture, which had seen a 29.38% turnout.
