Hood River, OR, August 26, 2023– Barbers from Last Hope Barbershop donated their time to cut students hair for free at Wy’East Middle School Gym on Friday August 25th, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event aimed to uplift students' spirits for going back to school and foster a sense of togetherness within the Hood River community.
Barber Mike Thomas, the owner of Last Hope Barbershop, located at 106 Oak St in downtown Hood River, Oregon, expressed his commitment to giving back.
“Everyone deserves to feel great about themselves and everyone deserves a good haircut,” said Barber Mike Thomas, the owner of Last Hope Barbershop.
His personal motivation for being a barber and for giving back is rooted in his mother's legacy as a barber, which he fondly recalls from his younger years.
“My mom was a barber. So when I was younger I saw what kind of affect she had on people when they came in the shop and they love they had for her and the affect she had within the community. I always really admired that,” said Barber Mike.
The event not only showcased the prowess of local barbers but also highlighted the power of community engagement in uplifting individuals' self-esteem and building stronger bonds among residents.
