Brush fire reported on Eight Mile Road near Dufur - July 24 at 3 p.m.
Firefighters are responding to a brush fire in the 8200 block of Eight Mile Road east of The Dalles, where hot, dry weather and gusty winds are creating a high potential for fire growth.
The Dalles, Ore., July 24, 2026 — Firefighters are responding to a brush fire in the 8200 block of Eight Mile Road about six miles west of Dufur, according to the Columbia Gorge Wildland Fire Information page on Facebook.
The fire was first reported about an hour before the information was posted. Officials had not yet released an estimated size or containment percentage.
As of the latest update, weather conditions at the scene included a temperature of 91 degrees, relative humidity of 21 percent and south winds at 7 mph with gusts exceeding 19 mph. Fire officials reported the potential for fire growth as high.
The Columbia Gorge Wildland Fire Information page urged the public to stay away from the area unless assisting with evacuations and reminded people that drones are prohibited near the fire.
"Do not fly drones anywhere near this fire," the page stated. "Please stay away and let firefighters get in and do their work."
