Hood River, Ore., July 27, 2026 — Columbia Center for the Arts and Theatre CamilleLynne present Cabaret, the landmark musical with book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb, running August 7-15 at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, Oregon.

It is Berlin, 1929. The Kit Kat Klub pulses with music, laughter, and the desperate glamour of a city trying to outrun history. American writer Cliff Bradshaw arrives hoping to find inspiration— and finds Sally Bowles instead. Vivacious, reckless, and utterly alive, Sally is the star of the Kit Kat Klub, performing every night under the watchful eye of the magnetic, unsettling Master of Ceremonies. But outside the club’s sequined walls, the streets of Weimar Germany are changing. The party, it turns out, cannot last forever.

A groundbreaking “concept musical” since its 1966 Broadway debut—where it swept the Tony Awards—Cabaret uses the seductive world of the cabaret stage as a mirror held up to one of history’s most chilling political moments. Featuring iconic songs including “Willkommen,” “Cabaret,” and “Maybe This Time,” this production is based on the celebrated 1998 revival—the bold, provocative version featuring Alan Cumming as the Emcee—widely considered the definitive modern staging of the show.

This production is presented by Theatre CamilleLynne (TCL), Hood River’s resident teen theatre company at Columbia Center for the Arts. Founded by director Tay Camille Lynne, TCL casts performers ages 12–20 and produces shows that are almost exclusively teen-performed and teen-run. TCL was built on a simple belief: that teenagers deserve meaningful, challenging performance opportunities in their own community—and that theatre is a place for everyone.“Cabaret is a show everyone recognizes but very few actually know. It deals with a range of emotions and issues that any actor could find challenging to really delve into. Working with teens I wasn’t sure how hard I could push them to grow and look at things differently, and to present these themes in a true and sometimes brutal way but I have never been happier to be wrong,” said Lynne.

Note for families: This production uses the 1998 revival script. Choreography, blocking, and select lines have been thoughtfully adapted by the director to suit a teen ensemble and community audience, while honoring the show’s powerful themes. Show is rated PG-13.

Creative Team

Director & Choreographer: Tay LynneTay is a Hood River native and graduate of the William Esper Studio in NYC, and University of Utah. She is a former circus performer, and now spends her time making films. She also works within the Hood River County School District.

Music Director: Mack Yasui

Mack is a junior at Hood River Valley High School. He most recently played Warren in Ordinary Days at Columbia Center for the Arts and Harry Bright in Mamma Mia! at the high school. Yasui was also the music director for TCL’s Ride the Cyclone this past summer. Mack is an avid performer and musical theatre enthusiast.
