Detour Ahead: East 3rd St in The Dalles Oct 13th.

The City of The Dalles Public Works Department will be closing the south lane of East 3rd Street from Madison Street to Taylor Street on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The north lane will be open to through traffic during pavement restoration work. 

The purpose of the closure is to repair ruts in the south lane and make the travel lane safe for motorists. 

Eastbound automobile and bicycle traffic on East Third Street will merge to the north lane only between Madison Street and Taylor Street from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrian traffic on both sides of the street.

Please proceed with caution through the work area during construction times and observe all temporary traffic control devices. Thank you for your assistance during this work.

The City of The Dalles, Oregon, is situated in the north-central part of the state on the Columbia River, the nation's second largest river. It is the county seat and the largest community in Wasco County. The Dalles is one of Oregon's most historical cities and was known earlier in its history as the town at the end of the Oregon Trail. The city was first incorporated by the Oregon Territorial Government in 1857 as “Dalles City” and was made the county seat shortly thereafter.
