Dick Schaffeld statement on his election bid and the loss of Phil Brady
Editor’s Note - Dick Schaffeld who is a primary candidate for Wasco County Commissioner Position 3 provided the following statement regarding his candidacy and the passing of Phil Brady this afternoon.
“First, I want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this campaign. The calls, messages, conversations, prayers, and encouragement have meant a great deal to me and my family.
As many of you have now heard, Commissioner Phil Brady passed away unexpectedly. Out of respect for Phil, his family, friends, and supporters, I felt it was important to stay quiet initially and allow people time to process this loss.
After speaking with the election office, I can say that due to the circumstances and the election results, there are still many unanswered questions regarding how this process will move forward. From what I was told, this situation is largely unprecedented, and it may take a couple of weeks before the legal and procedural details are sorted out.
Until then, I ask everyone to continue showing patience, grace, and respect for everyone involved.
Most importantly, please continue to keep Phil Brady’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.”
