Google-Sponsored Drone Light Show to Dazzle Wasco County Fair

The Dalles, Ore., Aug. 15, 2024 — The Wasco County Fair is set to shine even brighter this weekend, thanks to a drone light show sponsored by Google. The high-tech spectacle, accompanied by music, will take place on both Friday and Saturday nights at 10 p.m., offering a stunning and safe alternative to traditional fireworks.

It’s a great kickoff before the live music starts.

Sky Lites Drone Shows, a Portland-based company, has been hired to orchestrate the event. The company plans to deploy 150 drones to create intricate patterns and displays in the night sky.

Kyle Garner, co-owner of Sky Lites Drone Shows, spoke to CCCNews about the preparations.

“We position the drones in an open area in a grid pattern,” Garner explained. “The drones follow a computer-controlled flight path, which allows us to achieve the precision and complexity needed for the show without any collisions.”

The drone light show promises to be one of the fair’s highlights, blending technology and art for a memorable experience.
