Gorge Farmer Collective Delivers Local Food from Farm to Doorstep

Hood River, Ore., Aug. 26, 2025 — Columbia River Gorge, OR & WA. Born during the early days of the pandemic, the Gorge Farmer Collective (GFC) has become a trusted local food source for hundreds of families, allowing customers to source local foods from dozens of farms online with one easy click.

Until now, all orders were picked up at 5 local designated locations throughout the Gorge. But starting this month, residential customers in Hood River and White Salmon can opt for home delivery at checkout with a $10 flat fee, or get free delivery on orders over $150.

“We know not everyone can make it to a pickup site on a weeknight,” says Kiara Kashuba, GFC’s Executive Director and Co-Founder. “This new delivery service is about making it even easier for our neighbors to eat locally, support family farms, and enjoy what’s fresh and in season from a collection of regional producers without adding one more errand to the list.”

White Salmon’s Bethany Kimmel (Owner of Soča Wine Shop & Bar) orders weekly for her home–and buys for Soča’s seasonal menu via the GFC Wholesale Program. She says, “I love ordering from GFC every week and now it’s even easier that I can get my box delivered. My weekly fresh produce, veggies, meat, eggs and bread are now on my doorstep. I feel spoiled—in the best way and I feel connected to my local farms when I shop the co-op!”

Pickup service is still going strong, with 5 locations in Hood River, White Salmon, Mosier, The Dalles, and Lyle. Customers simply place an order online at gorgefarmers.com between Thursday 8 a.m. and Monday 10 a.m., then choose pickup or delivery at checkout. Orders are hand-packed Wednesday morning for same-day distribution.

From berries to bok choy, pasture-raised pork to pantry staples, GFC offers selections from 50+ farms in one easy online shop. Everything is picked-to-order, which means it’s not only as fresh as can be, but also reduces food waste. And with delivery now on the table, it’s never been easier to get the freshest, most flavorful foods the Gorge has to offer.

“It’s a joy to bring what we grow straight to local households,” says Lisa Perry, an orchardist growing pears, apples, cherries, peaches and other fruits in the Upper Hood River Valley. “Adding a home delivery component to our co-op makes local food more accessible, more convenient, and more fun, whether you’re planning meals, hosting guests, or just trying to eat a little better and find yourself more connected to your own backyard.”GFC remains a true cooperative: every participating farm owns a stake in the business and has a vote in how it’s run. That means every carrot, egg, bouquet, and steak is backed by the hands that grew it–and by a shared mission to make eating locally easier, fairer, and more delicious for all. The Cooperative also partners with community organizations to coordinate various food access programs, collaborates with local food banks, and wholesale community partners like schools, restaurants, and hospitals.

Each week, customers can shop online at www.gorgefarmers.com and choose between local pickup or home delivery. GFC’s farmer-to-customer model prioritizes freshness, sustainability, and transparency.
