HR's Affordable Housing on Rand Road gets $3 million push
From Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation:
The Dalles, OR (January 9th, 2023) – The 2023 federal omnibus spending bill which passed both chambers of Congress and was signed by President Joe Biden includes $3 million for Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation’s (CCHC) Hood River Affordable Housing Development.
This $3 million award is intended to leverage additional capital from Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS).
In 2021 Community Development Partners (CDP) and Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation (CCHC) were selected as the City of Hood River’s preferred development team to build affordable housing at 780 Rand Rd. – a parcel the city of Hood River purchased in January 2020 for the purpose of developing affordable housing.
Joel Madsen, CCHC’s Executive Director, states “Far too many of our neighbors continue to struggle to afford the cost of housing in Hood River and surrounding areas. We’re anxious to advance our efforts at Rand Rd. and bring this important affordable housing development to a reality for our community. This federal investment will certainly bolster our application that we’ll be submitting to the State later this year.”
Paul Blackburn, CCHC’s Board President acknowledges, “We are grateful to our federal delegates particularly Senator Merkley and Senator Wyden - who recognize the importance of this development for our community and fought to keep this community-initiated project in the federal spending bill.”
