Hood River, Ore., May 21, 2024 – As of 11 p.m. on May 21st Hood River County’s primary election saw a voter turnout of 47.04%. Election results will be updated with mailed ballots and again on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 by 5 p.m. with mailed ballots and again on June 11th at 5 p.m. with resolved challenged ballots.

Hood River County

In the race for Hood River County District Attorney, Matthew Ellis won his uncontested race wtih 96.95% of the vote, indicating a strong community endorsement of his tenure and policies.

The Hood River County Commissioner Chair saw Jennifer Euwer claimed 96.66% of the vote.

Commissioner District 2 had Arthur Babitz winning with 96.61% of the votes

In Commissioner District 4, Chad Muenzer won with 62.97% of the votes in a three-way race. Albert Nanc received 20.17% of the vote and Brian Merz received 16.51%

Judicial Elections

John A. Olson, who ran for Judge of the Circuit Court, 7th District, Position 1, received 98.47% of the vote.

Measures

62.13% voted no on Measure 14-77 - Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District 5 Year Operating levy for Park and Recreation Services.

68.05% voted no on Measure 14-78 Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation Bonds to Replace Aquatic Center; Fund Parks and Trails

61.84% voted yes on Measure 14-79 West Side Rural Fire Protection District Local Option levy to Improve Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

State and Federal Races

At the state level, the Democratic primary for Secretary of State saw Tobias Read leading with 75.41% of the vote, indicating his popularity and the alignment of his policies with the Democratic electorate in Hood River.

In the tightly contested U.S. Representative race for the 3rd District, Eddy Morales emerged as a strong Democratic contender with 54.82%of the vote, closely followed by Maxine E Dexter at 20.68%.

Republican candidates for the same seat saw Joanna Harbour leading with 47.47% of the vote.

Presidential Primary

In the presidential primaries, Joseph R. Biden Jr. maintained a strong lead among Democrats with 87.74% of the vote, while Donald J. Trump secured 88.78% on the Republican ticket, both indicating solid support from their respective party bases in Hood River County.
