Ellis sworn in as New Wasco County District Attorney
Matthew Ellis was sworn in as the new Wasco County District Attorney by Seventh District State Circuit Court Judge Janet Stauffer on Monday, Jan. 4., 2021, at the Wasco County Courthouse.
Ellis took the place of District Attorney Eric Nisley who has held the position since 1998 after being appointed by Gov. John Kitzhaber.
“I was sworn in this morning as the new Wasco Co District Attorney. I turned around and swore in Kara Davis as the new Chief Deputy District Attorney,” Ellis wrote on his Facebook page. “It is a new year, a new day, and a new beginning with new ideas in the Wasco Co District Attorney Office.”
“Today I was sworn in to begin the job Wasco County voters elected me to do. Thank you all for your support and I look forward to a new beginning for the office. Thank you also to my predecessor, Eric Nisley. He made the transition as easy as possible by hiring me as a Deputy District Attorney for the month of December. I hope to serve the community in a way that will make Wasco County proud to have me as their District Attorney.”
