Randall will run for TD Council again; Mays to go for another term as Mayor
Updated June 1 with Scott Randall Comments:
The Dalles City Councilor Scott Randall said he would definitely be running for his position on Council this fall.
“This is my last year with Corp of Engineers; I retire in early ‘23, and it will give me a chance to focus more on the City. I see Councilors Runyon and McGlothlin taking a lot of time to speak with residents, and I have not been able to do that as much. But I will in early next year, and I can be more focused on city issues and not distracted by my day job,” he said.

“I think there’s a lot of great potential for The Dalles you know. I am excited about the prospects of the hospital moving to Kramer Field and sports complex getting built and having that asset for The Dalles and continuing to improve streets, roads and community. I think our time has come; our day is here, and a lot of exciting things are happening.”

The Dalles Mayor Rich Mays said today, May 31, that he intended to run again for his position this coming fall when his and two other Council seats will be up for grabs in the general election on November 8, 2022.
All three positions are for four-year terms, and the first day to file a candidacy is Wednesday, June 1st.
“I think we've accomplished a lot, and we still have a ways to go,” said Mays. “I look forward to working with Matthew Klebes (New City Manager) on the challenges ahead.”
The election comes at a pivotal moment for the City of The Dalles with an influx of tax dollars and major projects underway. With a lack of housing, Google’s possible expansion and a major city water upgrade in the works, the next years will be busy for City Staff and Council as they also work to maintain policing, planning, roads, sewerage and the other general services.
Councilors Timothy McGlothlin, Position 1 and Scott Randall, Position 4, are also facing re-election if they choose to run.
McGlothlin said he was undecided this afternoon.
